Construction Work on Los Feliz Boulevard
In addition to the regular construction currently taking place, on Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., westbound Los Feliz Boulevard will be completely closed between Vermont Avenue and Edgemont St. Westbound traffic will be detoured as shown on the map below. In addition, only one eastbound lane of Los Feliz Boulevard will be open through this zone. If you plan to visit the Observatory that day, plan an alternate route. DWP crews will be replacing underground power infrastructure along Los Feliz Boulevard from April 2 through Fall 2013. The following flyer was released by DWP to explain the work and resulting traffic closures and limitations. (Click flyer for larger view).
Here is a map of the Observatory access roads with the work area marked in red:
NOTE: Buses and other large vehicles should NOT take Hillhurst or Fern Dell to access the Observatory, as both roads are too narrow for safe passage.
